High-performance milling and drilling machine EMCOMAT FB-450 L (EMCO)

Funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)

Thanks to a grant from the state of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania and the European Union and the support of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), a EMCOMAT FB-450 L high-performance milling and drilling machine was aquired in 2017.

For the development of new and improved measuring methods and novel reactor concepts or laboratory equipment as well as materials often special equipment is necessary, which are not usually commercially available. Therefore, the necessary high-precision components must be made by appropriately trained personnel with suitable equipment itself. Possible examples of such high-precision components are measuring cells for optical measuring devices (UV, Raman, IR), for electrochemical measuring cells, ionization cells for mass spectrometers or components for microreactors. This list is not exhaustive, but is intended to illustrate the breadth of the applications.

It is a high-performance milling and drilling machine made by EMCO, type EMCOMAT FB-450 L including required accessories. The advantage of the device is that it can be used very universally for the intended questions. The device complies with the corresponding DIN standards, such as B. DIN 8615 in view of the accuracy requirements for high-precision manufacturing, so that in manufacturing the corresponding documentation can be created. The automated manufacturing processes that are possible with the machine allow the production of several similar or slightly modified workpieces with high precision.

With the establishment of this high-precision milling and drilling machine at the Rostock site, a device is available to investigate relevant topics together with companies that ultimately ensure competitiveness. This ranges from the production of prototypes or spare parts to small series. Research-based institutions can also draw on this, which then for their part promote economic implementation with companies. Examples are in the field of plant construction or analysis.
